A luxury yoga retreat in Peru including Machu Picchu in March 2021. Twice daily yoga and meditation.

Summary

A 7 night luxury yoga retreat in the Peruvian Andes that will collect you at Cusco airport where you spend the night before taking you into the Sacred Valley of the Incas where you will spendthe rest of your time at our luxury yoga and meditation centre. We will visit local archaeological sites in the area. You will also participate in a traditional shamanic ceremony with a local shaman from Keros before visiting Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world.  This will all be will be with professional guides, yoga teachers and our wonderful luxury yoga resort.

March 2021

Day 1 (13th March)

Arrival into Peru before 11am, you need to make your way to Cusco airport to begin our yoga retreat. Today, as we adjust to the altitude we will not have a yoga class but we will have a guided walk to San Blas and Koricancha. We also have time in the evening for a talk and a welcome dinner and an evening of getting to get to know one other.  Dinner.


Day 2 (14th March)

After breakfast we will head out with our private guide to visit the site of Saqsayhuaman (pronounced sexy woman). We will visit the megalithic inca site and that of Tambomachay before lunch at a café of your choice in Cusco. In the afternoon we will drive over the Andes to our luxury yoga retreat centre, Willka Tika. We will get settled in and receive an orientation. You have time to schedule in spa services and try out the yoga shala for our first yoga class before a delicious vegetarian meal.  We have all the equipment here so you just need to turn up and focus on your practice. Day 3 (15th March)

Upon waking make your way to your yoga class which will set you up for the day. Again breakfast is included before we spend the day focusing on Mother Earth (Pacha Mama). A visiting Shaman from the Keros community will be taking us for private coca leaf readings and you also have the opportunity to buy some hand woven local textiles. 

For those that would like a walk we can visit the local farming community in the Sacred Valley with our private guide and in the evening we partake in a further Andean ceremony with our Shaman from Keros.

Day 4 (16th March)

We are now accustomed to our early morning yoga and as we progress through the week our bodies relax and curve more. Today we will participate in a day of Ayni, heading high into the Andes to visit a small local school that is twinned with the centre. We will be visiting and taking donations, not disturbing the classes. We then head out to the Inca site of Pisac to spend the afternoon between the fabulous site and the colourful Pisac market.  Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner.


Day 5 (17th March)

We have an early rise today as we head to the citadel of Machu Picchu on the tourist train. We will visit the citadel with our private guide and learn more about the cultures that lived here all those years ago. We will return on the train back to the Sacred Valley and dinner at Willka T'ika.  Time restraints will make it difficult to include yoga today but we can of course meditate in Machu Picchu Breakfast, dinner.


Day 6 (18th March)

As we continue on our luxury yoga retreat after yoga class and a delicious breakfast we will be taken in our private vehicle to the original Inca town of Ollantaytambo. In the afternoon we will have a further yoga and meditation practice and some free time to organise a spa session or a walk in the surrounding hills.

Day 7 (19th March)

A further day of yoga and meditation in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the beautiful Willka T'ika luxury yoga resort. We will have an extended yoga session this morning adn the afternoon is free to take walks in the hills, visit a local pottery workshop or explore the local market. Your tour leader is on hand to assist you with your plans.Maybe you can sit in the main square of the town and watch the world go by. This evening we have a celebratory dinner.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.


Day 8 (20th March)

We say our goodbyes as we end our yoga retreat and are taken back to the airport, or you can add on a visit to Lake Titicaca, the Amazon or somewhere else in South America. Breakfast.

The Sacred Valley

Our main accommodation is the Willka Tika luxury Wellness and Yoga Retreat centre. The hotel has beautifully appointed rooms with twin beds and doors out to the gardens. They have a beautiful spa where you can pay extra for massages, reflexology or facials. You can also take rejuvenating walks in the local area and meditate in the seven chakra gardens looking out for humming birds. 

The lodge has a beautiful yoga space with views of the mountains and the colourful gardens. All meals at the luxury yoga retreat are vegetarian and made by our professional chefs. 

Cusco

In Cusco, we have one night in a small 3 star property before heading to Willka Tika. 

All prices are based on two sharing. Single supplements are also available. It is also possible to upgrade room category. 

Getting there

Please arrive to Cusco before 11am on the 13th March for transfer to the hotel in Cusco.

How much yoga will we do?

In general we will have 2 classes a day, one in the morning of 90 minutes and one in the afternoon of 60 to 90 minutes that may include meditation also. You do not need to take both classes every day, it is up to you.

Do I need to be a yoga expert?

These yoga retreats are for any standard of yogi including absolute beginners. We also cater for expert yogis also. We give the instruction for group 1 and group 2 and we will decide what group you are in the first day although you can swap between the 2 if you like. In addition if you would like to travel with a non yogi ask about special pricing.

Are all meals vegetarian/vegan?

They are not, we cater for all dietary requirements and some yoga centres may be 100% vegetarian but when we have lunch or dinner out you can eat what you like. Do let us know any preferences.

Do you provide visas?

We do not provide visas but we can help you if you do need a visa.

Do you include international air tickets?

We do not include these as people come from all over the world, we can help you find the best routing as we have many years experience in this field.

Can I have a single room?

You can have a guaranteed single room by paying the single supplement.

Can I share a room?

If you would prefer not to pay the single supplement you can share a room with a person of the same sex. We will pair you with a room partner.

What should I bring?

Ask us about packing lists for each specific destination but everyone should bring a yoga mat. We will supply blocks, straps and blankets.
