Morning yoga retreat classes, the citadel of Machu Picchu, the mighty Amazon river, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Cusco.
A 7 night yoga retreat in the Andes and the Amazon. We will collect you at Cusco airport before taking you into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Tipon and Machu Picchu one of the seven wonders of the world. You then visit the Inca capital Cusco nestled in the Andes before flying north to Iquitos and the Amazon where you will be able to see pink dolphins, monkeys, local tribes and the beautiful Amazon river close to the Pacaya Samiria national park. This will all be will be with professional guides, yoga teachers and wonderful hotels and lodges.
Arrival into Peru, you need to make your way to Cusco. Today as we adjust to the altitude we will have a healing yoga class, recovering from the flight, stretching the limbs before we have a light dinner and an evening to get to know each other. Dinner.
Upon waking make your way to your yoga class which will set you up for the day. Again breakfast is included before we board our vehicle and go to the archaeological site of Tipon with its wonderful intact water canal. It’s one of the most peaceful places in the area and it is easy to find a quiet spot to meditate. We will return to the Sacred Valley via a local market, allowing you to appreciate the colour of the local culture and people. Breakfast, Lunch in the valley.
We have an early rise today so there will be no early morning yoga. We will take the train to the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu where with our private guide we will learn the history and hear some of the theories related to Machu Picchu. We will have a short amount of time to soak up the atmosphere on our own before taking the train to Cusco nestled in the Andes. Breakfast, Packed Lunch
Morning yoga overlooking the city before breakfast. We have a beautiful walk today. Our car will take us to Tambomachay and from there we will walk downhill past other archaeological sites to Saqsayhuaman and then Cusco main square. Breakfast, Dinner
Early in the morning we will be taken to Cusco airport for the short flight to Iquitos in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon. We then drive to the port of Nauta and board the boat to the lodge travelling along the Maranon River to the lodge that sits just back from the river. On the way to the lodge we will visit a local forest project to see what wildlife we can spot and soak up the jungle sounds and smells. Lunch is served onboard.
Arriving into our home for the next few days we will meet a member of the Kukuma tribe who will welcome us to the lodge in their local language. The Kukuma tribe assist in the running of the lodge.
We have a short yoga session and dinner is served at the lodge and our guide will talk to us about myths and legends of the rainforest in the evening. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Yoga in the morning before breakfast will set us up for the day. The body moves well in the heat.
After breakfast we have the day exploring either on foot or by boat. We have to be flexible here as our excursions are dependant on the weather. While at the lodge we will spend time in the Pacaya Samiria national park, Peru’s largest national park and one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. We will visit local towns and learn about local customs watching pink dolphins, iguanas, monkeys and more while we are out.
In the afternoon before dinner we will have a shorter yoga session. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Yoga in the morning which weather dependant might be in the gardens, if not we have a lovely space indoors. We then continue our exploration of the jungle with our guide. Yoga included in the afternoon at the Pacaya Samiria Amazon lodge.
After breakfast we return to the airport and fly to Lima for onward travel. Do ask us about extensions, maybe you would like to go to the beach in Peru or visit another area of the country. Breakfast.
Our main accommodation is the Pacaya Samiria Amazon lodge with small bungalows, hammocks and beautiful gardens.
Our accommodation is the Mandala Yoga retreat in the Sacred Valley. The lodge has a beautiful yoga space with views of the mountains and the colourful gardens. There are hammocks to while away some time watching the humming birds.
In Cusco, we will spend time in the Antigua Casona in the San Blas area of Cusco.
They have a beautiful yoga studio with views over the city.
All prices are based on two sharing. Single and triple supplements are also available.
Please arrive to Cusco around midday on the 2nd of April for transfer to the Sacred Valley.
Arrange departure after 11am on the 9th April from Iquitos airport.
There are international flights from all over the world to Peru. We can help you look at the best schedule for you.
In general we will have 2 classes a day, one in the morning of 90 minutes and one in the afternoon of 60 to 90 minutes that may include meditation also. You do not need to take both classes every day, it is up to you.
These yoga retreats are for any standard of yogi including absolute beginners. We also cater for expert yogis also. We give the instruction for group 1 and group 2 and we will decide what group you are in the first day although you can swap between the 2 if you like. In addition if you would like to travel with a non yogi ask about special pricing.
They are not, we cater for all dietary requirements and some yoga centres may be 100% vegetarian but when we have lunch or dinner out you can eat what you like. Do let us know any preferences.
We do not provide visas but we can help you if you do need a visa.
We do not include these as people come from all over the world, we can help you find the best routing as we have many years experience in this field.
You can have a guaranteed single room by paying the single supplement.
If you would prefer not to pay the single supplement you can share a room with a person of the same sex. We will pair you with a room partner.
Ask us about packing lists for each specific destination but everyone should bring a yoga mat. We will supply blocks, straps and blankets.
