Welcome to Blu Kite Yoga Retreats

Making voyages of discovery to Machu Picchu, the Amazon, the Islands of Scotland and Thailand, with yoga practice included.

Welcome

Our blog is to tell you a little bit more about us, as websites can be quite factual and reasonably rigid as there is a certain amount of information to get across.

The articles are going to be written by myself, Fiona, as I have done it before and it is something I really enjoy doing - you can end up talking about all sorts of things that may or may not be yoga related!

Fiona-Amazon-850px.jpgWhy did we start Blu Kite?

Well, we have both worked in tourism for many years. Between us we have 40 years experience. We travel a lot, always carrying yoga mats, and our travelling and sightseeing fit in well with our yoga. We always make time for both visiting incredible places, while enjoying a rest for our bodies and minds. We want other people to have the same incredible experiences we have had.

Peru

Peru was an easy one to decide on as Armando is from Peru and of course I lived there too. We have both guided here and know the country incredibly well. Why do we still travel here? The Amazon and jungle, Machu Picchu, Cusco, the food, mountains, seaside, the people, the language, there are so many reasons. We want to know Peru while it is still reasonably quiet and a bit off the beaten path.

Yoga and Thailand go hand in hand. Yoga is part of your meditation practice and meditation takes place all over Thailand from Chiang Mai to Koh Lanta. I love archaeological sites and temples and Thailand really has some incredible places to visit. I am also very partial to a beach and a beach property and the Pimalai is everything you could expect of a Thai beach.

Scotland is really a labour of love. It is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with friendly people, great food, fabulous whisky and outstanding scenery. It is also home to some marvellous historical sites and has international museums. We went on a voyage of discovery last year to Orkney and it blew our minds. We of course have a preference for Glasgow which is where we currently reside, teach and practice yoga.

Journeys of discovery

We will eventually add some other destinations, or increase what we have already. We like to do things well, so are starting off small and with places we know really well.

I look forward to writing more, I have missed it!

Regards,

Fiona, Blu Kite Yoga Retreats
